Along with composing music, Ian Fiedorek also writes poetry. I was commissioned to create a poetry book that looked timeless, ancient and mystical. I did some visual research and created several mood boards, as well as research on different types of paper and aging techniques.


I chose delicate Chinese Yumai paper for the content pages, gold ink & oil soaked paper for the front and back covers, and coffee and fire to stain and destroy the paper for an aged effect. I chose the Packard Antique typeface and decorative Foliar Initials to convey the timeless, ancient, and mystical aesthetic.
